[Makeup] Maybelline Superstay Matte liquid lipstick

When the Singapore Government decided to mandate mask wearing, one of the saddest part for me was that I can no longer wear lipsticks that could potentially be as dark as my soul. 🤣 Not because I couldn’t, but I thought it was pretty unhygienic to have the lipstick colour sticking onto my mask should I wear them.

It was a weird feeling honestly to go without a lipstick at work… And sometimes, my colleagues even asked if I am feeling unwell since I looked paler than usual.

However, thanks to a friend who had introduced me to a new lipstick product, I am back to wearing lipsticks at work.

Meet my new found product Maybelline Superstay matte liquid lipstick, which boasts that users will have saturated liquid matte ink on their lips for up to 16 hours, which I refer to as: it’s not going to come off that easily and it’s not going to budge from my lips.

For this product, there are a total of 30 colours so far and the colors ranges from the dark reds to the sweet pinks.

Coincidentally, Maybelline had a collaboration with Marvel for some of the shades and after considering whether I should get the normal range or the limited edition (Marvel), I ended up purchasing the colour Groundbreaker from the Marvel range.

Trying it for the first time, I am very impressed. After letting the colour dry for 30 seconds based on the instructions, it actually stays on my lips. The transferability was pretty low (i.e. no lip stains on cups).

This happened after I pressed the tissue on my lips hard for three times

Subsequently, I tried it with my mask and indeed it doesn’t stain my mask that much (there will still be some stains, but it’s not that obvious and it’s bearable too).

In terms of the colour based on the colour chart, I feel that it turns out to be brighter than I expected but I can still take the brightness. In fact, sometimes I will pair the lipstick with the Fenty Beauty Stunna Lip Paint to have a gradient effect.

In terms of removal, well it does that some effort to remove the colour from my lips as it is a superstay product.

Honestly I think this product is heaven send because it does what it needs to do, and given that I had tried a couple of matte lipsticks before, this really stays on, which is great. I hope to test out a couple more colours in the future! ☺️

This product can be found on the following online platforms: Guardian, Watsons, Lazada, Shopee at about SGD 17.90. But there are occasional promotions here and there so you might be able to get it at a cheaper deal.
