[Korean Variety] Busted!

South Korea recently launched a new Variety show: Busted! on Netflix and after watching the first two episodes, it has become my “to-watch” variety.

Here’s my reasons why I recommend it:

  • Cast

The first reason why I picked up this variety show was because of the cast; which consist Yoo Jaesuk, Lee Kwang Soo, Exo’s Sehun, Gugudan Sejong, Park Min Young, Ahn Jae Wook, Kim Jong Min.

If you are a K-variety fanatic, you should have seen the unlucky duo Jae Suk and Kwang Soo on Running Man!. They were hilarious on Running Man! whenever they are paired together. With the level of familiarity they have with each other, one can expect both of their bickering and funny antics in Busted! as well.

In addition to the pair, we also have Kim Jong Min; who is hilarious as well in 2D1N.

Apart from the variety casts, who also have actors Park Min Young and Ahn Jae Wook and idols Sehun and Sejong.

My review after the first 2 episodes of Busted! was that each of them contribute equally in this show; and through the concept of this variety show, it also provides an opportunity to see a part of them that wasn’t often highlighted in other variety shows.

Also, apart from the main 7 cast; guests will also be invited to the show each week. For the first two episodes we have Kim Sooro and Hong Jong-hyun. Now I am excited to know who will be invited for the other episodes.

  • Concept

Busted!, even though it is a variety show, the concept was anchored on crime solving. In this variety show, the main cast were detectives injected with a chip that contains DNA of famous detectives. This project was called Project M. However, they suffer from memory loss as a result of the injection and the project was cancelled. The detectives were then gathered together to solve crimes and mystery assigned to them by K.

The concept was definitely refreshing compared to the other K variety that are available now. Even though it is a variety show, there are drama elements tagged to it as everyone are so involved in their respective roles. Also, kudos to the all staff for making each scene as real as possible.

Even though there used to be a similar show (Sherlock’s Room) that was launched in 2017; there are only 2 episodes available, which was a pity because I had enjoyed it.

Unfortunately, this variety show only have 10 episodes scheduled. Hopefully the critiques are review are good so that more episodes can be added in the future.

Busted! is available on Netflix. For the trailer, please refer to video below!

Note: I might do a full review on this variety after all 10 episodes had been aired. Until then, I highly recommend this variety show!
